Há muito tempo, quando Tião era guarda de um campo de milho perdera, por culpa sua, a companhia de Mag, uma pega-rabuda por quem, inadvertidamente, se afeiçoara. Desde esse dia, em que o silêncio envolveu o campo, Tião procura reaver o canto perdido daquela ave.
